Smart Holding has made investments into mining and the metallurgical industry since the late 90s.

The largest Smart Holding’s investment is 23.75% of capital of Metinvest Group – an international vertically integrated mining and metallurgical group of companies comprising of dozens companies in Ukraine, Europe and the USA.

In 2010 Metinvest companies mined 13 MT of coal, produced 35.7 MT of iron-ore concentrate, 8.7 MT of steel and 8.2 MT of steel products.

In 2010 annual revenue of Metinvest Group amounted to $9.358 billion, adjusted EBITDA - $2.552 billion.

Metinvest ranks No.26 among the largest iron and steel companies according to the World Steel Association (WSA).
